Their need

Aubert & Duval, a strategic player in the French metallurgy industry, aimed to strengthen its position as a European leader in advanced metallurgical solutions, while addressing the critical challenges of the aeronautics industry. To achieve this, the company needed to invest in an innovative industrial tool: a 6,000-ton die-forming press, unique in Europe, capable of producing the most critical structural and engine parts for the next generation of aircraft.

This project also aims to accelerate the decarbonization of industrial activity thanks to a fully electrified fleet of furnaces, while strengthening French industrial sovereignty in a highly strategic sector.

Our Solution

The Strategic Project Guarantee is Bpifrance Assurance Export's insurance product that facilitates the financing of operations carried out by a French company and which are of strategic interest to the French economy in France and abroad. The GPS is helping Aubert & Duval invest in a new production facility for high-performance parts that address several critical challenges in the aeronautics industry and contribute to making this sector more sustainable and competitive for export.

Result

Aubert & Duval (A&D) has raised a €51,1 million green loan insured by Bpifrance Assurance Export, acting in the name, on behalf of and under the control of the French State, under the Strategic Project Guarantee (“SPG”) scheme.
This loan will finance A&D's investment in a 6,000-tonne die-forming press and related industrial equipment at its Pamiers site (Ariège).

This investment will notably enable the production in France of the most critical parts for the aeronautics market, in particular structural parts and engines for the next generation of aircraft. The project allows, at constant activity, a decarbonization of Aubert & Duval's activity, with a fleet of fully electrified furnaces for heating parts. The support granted by the public authorities through the establishment of a credit covered by a GPS and the granting of subsidies from the France 2030 plan by ADEME and Bpifrance has made it possible to launch this crucial project for the entire European aeronautics sector.
