Their need
Verkor, a French start-up specializing in batteries for electric vehicles, has launched an ambitious project:
the construction of a gigafactory in Dunkirk. This industrial site aims to meet the growing demand for low-carbon batteries in Europe, while strengthening France's energy sovereignty.
Our Solution
Bpifrance Assurance Export is pleased to have supported Verkor by setting up a Strategic Project Guarantee (GPS) for the creation of its gigafactory.
GPS participates in supporting new projects in the renewable energy sector and contributes to the reindustrialization and sovereignty of France over new sustainable sectors.

Result
Thanks to the Strategic Project Guarantee, Verkor was able to secure €353 million in financing. This debt is covered by a consortium of international and French banks, including:
ABN AMRO BANK, ANZ, Banco Santander, Rabobank, ING Bank, KfW, Kommunalkredit, La Banque Postale, Mizuho Bank, MUFG Bank, Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking (acting as BPI Coordinator and Agent), SMBC Bank, Société Générale and Standard Chartered Bank.
This financial support allows Verkor to take a decisive step in its industrial development and to actively contribute to the European energy transition.
