Horizon Guinea
"Thanks to the Simandou 2040 Plan, Guinea is embarking on one of the most ambitious agricultural, mining and industrial transformation programs on the African continent.
This strategic vision, championed at the highest level of the State, aims to accelerate the country's emergence through structuring investments, sustainable development of natural resources and more balanced territorial development.
This dynamic makes Guinea one of the engines of growth in West Africa in 2026 and paves the way for new partnerships between public actors, innovative companies, international investors and French expertise.

- GPD : 31 billion (in USD)
- 114ème world economic power
- Currency Guinean franc
- Exchange rate regime : Steady floating
COUNTRY RISKS
- Strong dependence on the mining sector The economy remains focused on exports of bauxite, gold and soon iron, making the country exposed to variations in global demand and international prices.
- Vulnerability of the banking sector : The rate of bank account ownership in Guinea is low (only 4% of Guineans over 15 years of age have a bank account according to the World Bank), but the use of electronic wallets is growing rapidly.
- Climatic hazards Guinea is vulnerable to climate change, particularly drought. The new government has committed to stricter enforcement of environmental clauses in mining contracts.
AREA OPPORTUNITIES
- Strategic mineral resources: Guinea has very large reserves of bauxite, gold, iron ore (including Simandou, one of the world's largest iron ore deposits, which began to be exploited in November) and lithium, offering major potential for the energy, metallurgical and processing industries.
- Acceleration of economic growth : The expansion of mining capacity and the start of production at the Simandou project should drive growth above 10% in 2026–2027, making the country one of the most dynamic in the world.
- Renewable energy potential The country benefits from strong hydroelectric potential – already partially exploited – which supports low-carbon energy and makes it possible to power future industrial projects.
- Infrastructure development Massive investments in mining, rail, port and energy infrastructure (including projects related to Simandou) offer opportunities in transport, logistics and energy.
